Do you ahve one? I've read about them, but have never seen one or the
schematics for one...
Yes, I have the successor to the PE1000, relabeled by Telefunken as LSL100
(for the TR440 system). I had scanned the service manual for the earlier
model (no schematics there, but I've drawn them by hand, but I need to
find and scan them); it's on bitsavers.
More documents for the PE1000 can be found here (from Philipp):

Especially the "Reader Manual" contains functional description and
schematics.
What is 'fast'? A good optical reaser will
do 700-1000 cps. Is it
significantly faster?
Our model does 500 or 1000 cps. But apparently there existed some models
reading up to 2000 cps (e.g. Telefunken LSL200) or even more. But then you
really have a problem with tape feeding and winding. (At 1000 cps the tape
just shoots at least 1m horizontally out of the reader if you don't have a
fast and accurate motor winder).

Hmm, I had an polish CT1001 Reader years before on my selfmade Homecomputer,
a Z80 based System. The Reader had germanium photodiodes and Germanium
Transistors in the Data channels. I had to calibrate each of the channels
carefully since it had problems to read white or lightyellow tapes when I
got it.
And yes, I've chocked several people to this time, loaded the tape, set the
reader online, was going to the computer and started the reading. This
1000CPS Reader shoot the tape 2m trough the room with an feeping noise...
Habe an 200CPS now Reader here, put an Atmel on the more or less bare
mechanics (this was a replacement part mechanic). Works.
Have two punchers here too, bot have nothing done with them jet.

Holm
