Is my memory playing tricks on me, or did Commodore really
use such a line (or something quite similar)? Any pointers
would be appreciated.
From what I recall, typing in source code for a
C64 was no fun, with
all those peeks and pokes, etc. Even the tape drive could
transfer
data faster than I could type in those source code listings.
BTW, I wasn't convinced that it *could* read
data faster
than I could type :)
While I can't comment on the disk drive, since I didn't acquire one
until the past year or so (and haven't obtained a cable yet), I can
only comment on the tape drive; yes, it did seem rather s...l...o...w;
however slow, I was grateful not to have to type in a program anymore
every time I used the C64. :-)
