No, but unlike Fred, I've given up. After listening to BBC
announcers confuse "lie" and "lay", "flout" and
"flaunt", "flounder"
and "founder" and "who" and "whom", I've concluded that
it's not
worth the effort of being annoyed. Gone are the days of received
standard pronunciation and impeccable grammar.
The tragedy is that by conflating two words to mean the same thing,
we've lost the vocabulary to express a specific concept.
