I also recall Argonne (remember I worked under DOE contracts for a good while) having a
NJE suite for VMS and a little googling finds this (written, of course in Fortran!):

The above may or may not be the same as ANJE (I always thought... A in ANJE was for
Argonne! But I never connected NJE with ANJE, not being an IBM guy!)
