Seems like the Vadic 1200 baud dialup ones, which had different tone
sets from 212A, actually ran slightly faster than 1200.
I dug through some old notes (curiosity will do that). I had the
VA3451, the so-called "triple modem", which would do 103 and 212
signaling, as well as Racal-proprietary 1200 baud. My notes say that
it was possible to push the Vadic speed a bit, once connected. Was
it 1800? I don't know--my notes don't give that detail.
Sigh...it's pretty surprising how much you can forget in a quarter of
a century.
