The curious thing is that, but for a twist of fate, I might have been
the one who ended up writing the code for this beast. I used to run
into my old CDC boss, Fred Laccabue, at the De La Cruz Deli from time
to time and he lobbied pretty hard to get me to join him over at
Fairchild. Promised me my own VAX, he did. I couldn't see myself
making a career out of ATE, however. Fred probably made out okay
when Schlumberger bought Fairchild.
