I've been on this list for several years and I don't ever remember a non-member
posting a message here offering anything*. However I've seen a number of non-members
post questions here such as when Susun Gonzales posted the question here about the HP
88140 tapes earlier today.
*Several members have been offered stuff directly and forwarded the messages here.
Personally I don't think we'd lose a thing by stopping postings by non-members
and it would (should!) stop the SPAM.

Or, since the new setup uses Mailman, restrict posting to list members
only. Thats' what I've done on my (large) lists and it works fine.
