I had a problem with an old Dot Matrix printer that was part of a
Computer Portrait machine Ihad sold to a film company - it would only
print in one direction then complain that the unit could only print to
the left.
Turns out the head slider and rollers were almost seized from dried out
lubrication - so pay attention to motors and other moving parts in older
computer systems - they all need periodic lubrication and inspection for
free movement.
