I've never had troupble with my 8100, 8500 or 9500 writing 800K floppies,
and they are all running 8.6 or 9.1

It will work fine as long as it's an older Mac. Most of your PPC
based Mac's, especially those running OS 8.6 and newer, have trouble with
the 400k and 800k formats.
