one and solder it in.
That depends on the defintion of 'component'. If it's what's commonly
called a 'FRU', then I've certainly reparied them...
I've also repaired what are more often classed as components. Rewound
motors, inductors, transformers, rtc. Repaired switch contacts and
operating mechansisms. Rebuilt varaible capacitors. Even once repaired a
light bulb.
