Lesse--the i960 has been used for lots of embedded-type applications for
some time now (10 years?). It's introduction (along with the more
complex i860) were probably based on 432 work, but the 960 was much
more conventional (or so I've heard!)
I remember seeing adds in some general PC-type mags c. 1991 for
coproscessor boards w. 860's onboard to stick in your pc to give
"cray" performance. :-) Yeah.
