The human ear is not a linear receiver ;)
It is simply down to what you like - and valves colour the sound in a
way that sounds 'nice' to most people.
Perhaps, but that should not be the job of the amplifier, but of the
'source', whatever that may be.
And now I come to think of it: it should be possible to record a CD,
feeding the ADC with a signal from a tube amp, and have that "nice"
sound out of a "perfect" transistor amp.
