Jules, I think that they mean you restore the plastic, by removing the
yellowing, then stop the process that causes degradation by applying the
acrylic lacquer. I would not see a problem with this, though I agree
with all who post, this is not a very good idea.
I also have more of a problem with soft rubber and other material that
affects operation than with the covers, unless the damage is causing
cracking, etc. In that case I'd consider a fix like this. Also most of
my collection is in "city" type atmosphere and subject to more than just
UV exposure, with the air causing more problems than light.

Interesting - if they're advocating that as a fix, then what's the
point; may as well just hit the thing with a can of spray-paint and be
done with it, surely?
