I'm trying to get a TP 701c I bought off of eBay working to install OS/2
Warp on. But it has a password set in the BIOS. According to the service
manual
ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/pc/pccbbs/mobiles/tpvol2.pdf there are
two Power-On Password Bypass Pads on the bottom of the lower system board,
but no instructions on what to do with them. Do I need to short them out?
If so how? Someone else suggested desoldering the backup battery, but if
I can just short two pads, that would be preferred. Right now its
completely disassembled. I have two other 701c machines, but they each
have their own problems. Worse case if I can't clear the password I can
try to take the display off this one and put it on the 701c that has a
display problem.
