I met Eldridge Cleaver twice. When he was
organizing the Black Panthers
at Merritt College, and then again, when he was scavenging recyclables for
a living.
I spent an afternoon with him once, too. He had some interesting
stories from the old days.
On-topic, I'd have a hard time finding the time to fix all the broken
LCD monitors I could be given. Disassembly, finding the right cap,
then reassembly - could take a long time, mental energy, and bench space. It's easier to only accept the working ones.
