[2] Actually, 'never' is too strong. I am pretty sure I've seen at
least one schematic that does thta, maybe an HP one.
Ack, you and your ilk keep revising things for no particular good
reason. First, it was a "condenser", a word with perfectly good
Latin roots and you changed it to "capacitor" (is there even a verb
I thought 'capcitor' had latin roots too ('capio' = 'I capture')
form as in "a capacitor.does this..."?)
Small values were measured in micro-microfarads, but oh no--that
wasn't good enough. You had to change it to "picofarads". We'd talk
about .001 microfarad, but you had to go and change it to 1
nanofarad.
Now you want to change things from thousand microfarads to
millifarads?
We'd talk about cycles per second and you changed it to "Hertz".
Ugh.
One joker proposed that the unit of angular frequency (radians/second)
should be the 'avis'. For those in outher countries, 'Hertz' and
'Avis'
were 2 major car rental compaines.
I ,little poem is coming to mind. I am not sure where I first read it,
but anyeay...
The tears do flow
The dirge doth play
Millimicron
Hath passed away
I met her first
In High School Science
Hardy and Perrin
Sealed the alliance
Allas, She's gone
Her soul hath flit
To join Her love
The Angstrom unit
I see Her face
I hear Her cry
Four hundred times
In the violet sky
Her form doth haunt
Me, though unseen;
Five hundred times
In the oceans green.
Her name I murmur
When the lights are low
Six hundred times
In the embers glow.
My friend, they say,
Forget your Milly
Nanometer's
Better, rilly
Well off with the old
And on with the new!
(Millimicron
I still love you)
