The LA120 Decwriter III manual calls for Nye type

Can anyone recommend a modern replacement?
Believe it or not, but there's
several Nye oils available
if you search Amazon for "nye oil" (for clocks and musical
instruments), and <http://www.nyelubricants.com/>http://www.nyelubricants.com still
exists.

If the bearings actually need oil the oil used was a light machine oil
commonly know as
Sewing machine oil. Nothing fancy. The sintered bearings were soaked
in it for many hours
to soak up all the oil needed for life and then some. The usual issue
dust and dirt in the
bearings and that needs to be removed first before relubing (soaking the
bearings separate
from the unit).
FYI in the printing systems lab we had the stuff from several vendors,
usually sewing machine
oil was used as it was handy and known to work well.
The bars should only have a light film, if you can see the oil you've
used way too much.
