breaking cds can be dangerous,,,, when they snap pieces can go flying and
into your eyes or a piece of plastic can also cut your arm....

 That's what I do now, but the shredder seems cleaner.  OK, I confess,
 I think a shredder that can handle CD's is cool :^)  Though it would
 be even cooler if it did it into smaller pieces. 
 
 The Fellowes shredder I have here ($180) can easily destroy CDs into
 little
 bitty sharp metal-plastic confetti. It's therapeutic to toss AOL discs
 into
 it and listen to it crush the disc into fragments. ^^
