I never used metal tape back in the day, but I used a lot of Maxell
UD-XLII and UD-XLIIS chrome tapes, and some TDK SA, and new old stock
has become very scarce and expensive.
The interesting thing is that I've picked up
Nakamichi cassette decks
(definitely not cheap) for nothing via the loca Freecycle.
A friend just gave me a Nakamichi Dragon, which won't auto-reverse but
is otherwise fully functional. I really wanted a Dragon back in the
day, but they were way too expensive for me.
