Sure they can, and there are many people working diligently to ensure
that they do. The newest stuff requires 4x the horsepower to play back,
but they are 4x smaller, so it generally evens out.
Come on guys, MPEG-4 is an ISO standard and it's cross-platform. What
is the big deal? Would you rather have a 160x120 Cinepak .MOV from 1992?
