know how to pass variables between the batch file and programs you
were calling. I seem to recall there being quite a few classes on
batch file programming, as well as numerous books.
Oh yeah, you could get batch files to jump through amazing hoops and do
really funky tricks but it wasn't much fun, however. Witness how
everybody and their brother created batch file extensions (PC-Mag's
string.com, 4dos with .btm and so on)
