As Chuck just pointed out with not being able to even find a picture of a
Bell 208
Modems. Poor, unwanted modems.
You want to talk about unwanted modems? Anything that doesn't support
the Hayes "AT" command set. I have several. We used to use them back
in the days of dialling into the office with a dumb terminal. I have
in particular a couple of Ventel MD212-plus and a couple Cermatek
modems with some vendor-unique dialling control sequence, both 1200
baud. I can't say that I _need_ to call anything up at 1200 baud, but
they aren't huge, so I don't mind keeping one or two around.
When it comes time for Spring Cleaning (once we stop getting polar
vortexes), I should drag these out and at least dust them off and take
pictures.
