Just as a follow-up, I retensioned and read both
tapes with clear bands this morning, and they're fine. Since they were parked, there
shouldn't have been anything important there, and it looks like the removed oxide is
staying on the band.
What bands did you use/buy? I ask because the Baumgartens Plastibands aren't
available in the required size (as if they are not produced any more).
