Add the simple

Such a notice was needed at one time (in the USA) but that hasn't been
true for many years. So the notice makes it explicit, but copyright
applies to the work whether the notice is present or not.
Believe it or not, some people haven't adapted to the Berne Convention
changes. ALWAYS put the notice there, otherwise somebody whose knowledge
of the law is thoroughly obsolete will DECLARE that your work is not
copyrighted.
