I've got a couple of very neat Toshiba 3.5" drives that auto-adjust
rotational speed. You can't format a 1.3MB 360 RPM floppy but you
can read and write one.
Many USB floppies as well as the Imation Superdrive will do the same--
i.e. read/write, but no format.
