Are you talking about the EDA systems? I saw one of those in use in
the late 1980s. Damn that was a powerful system.
I used a similar but competing system, a Calay, many years ago. It's
a schematic capture and PCB autorouting system. The main processor is a
PDP-11/23, and it has an ASIC-based autorouting assist processor
connected to it via a parallel DMA interface. The whole shebang is
built into a desk. I actually own one of these systems (sans desk,
sadly) but haven't yet had it shipped here.
Hard-core stuff.
