So, given that, does anyone know:
1) If the Plus chassis harness connector (PSU and video) matches the 512K?
I've not been able to find pinout information online.
I am pretty sure it is. There was an offocial upgrade from MAc 512 to
Mac+ which involved a new logic board nad new rear case (the connectors
are totally different). I think the PSU/vidoe cable just plugged in.
2) If the Plus keyboard/rodent will work? (I assume the mouse is the same,
but I'm not sure if all Pluses had the keypad - and possibly send different
codes - or not)
It should be fine. I've seen a Mac512 with the keypadded keyboard, no
problems. I assume there weren't 2 versiosn fo said keyboard...
The mouse is the same too. Standrd quadrature mouse, I am sure the
pinoutsi out there somewhere. I hacked a clone moust for the Atari ST to
work on my first Mac+
I don't actually *have* a keyboard for my Plus right now, but I have one
lined up to collect when I'm next in England - in the meantime though I
could at least see if the board powers up and shows signs of life.
It will work without a keybaorf and you can do jsut about everythign with
the mouse. At Cambridge university in the mid 1980s there were a few
pbulic-access Mac+ machines. One night some joker remvoed all the
keybaord cables at both ends and hid them. It dook several days for
anyone to notice...
