Has anyone (probably!) hacked together a PSU for a C64 using a PC
PSU? How close do the AC lines have to be to a 9V sine wave?
I've not tried to hack a PC supply, but I have made a hacked C64 power
supply out of two "wall wart" converters. One 120V to 9V AC-AC
converter, and one 120V to +5V (3A or better) regulated AC-DC converter.
Cut the ends off, solder them to the correct pins on a 7-pin DIN, and
you're golden. It requires two plugs to operate, and is definitely an
ugly kludge, but it works in a pinch.
TBH, I'm not sure what my options are for getting
software onto disk,
I use (and recommend) a ZoomFloppy, which I've had great success
with.

and transfer images back and forth over USB. Pretty nifty.
