Guilt is a difficult thing to deal with, but it's easily assuaged when
you've got that much money.
The side benefit is reputation laundering. But I don't think guilt or a
conscience was anything he was burdened with, or he'd never have got
where he is.
Very true; as this isn't a merit-based society. He was a damn good
programmer "back in the day", though; pity he didn't stick to that.
