I never saw one that hooked to the floppy interface,
but it's
certainly possible.
Several of us at the UofChicago Comp Center bought 128K Macs when
they came out. One of the other people in the systems programming
group bought a Mac Bernoulli Box as soon as it was announced.
It was definitely the external floppy port.

SCSI appeared on the Macintosh Plus, introduced in
early 1986.
The SE was introduced in April 1987.

Most of the early Iomega Bernoulli products used SASI.
Wouldn't know about that.
