I was searching through my books for any info on neons and came
across a detailed description of using them in this way in the
"Admiralty Handbook of Wirelss Telegraphy", 1938, complete with
relevant formulae should you wish to design your own power
supply. I have used "proper" gas stabilizer tubes myself.
