That's right, and, for the bell-ringing, lights blinking set, the readers of
pop-tronix, that was enough! It was really clever of Ed Roberts to think up
that as a marketing tool to help him get so me cash flowing in.

My recollection was that the original Altair had no I/O devices at all.
That's not quite true. They did have the front panel :-)
