There are still quite a few dynamotors in aircraft service, so there
are motor rewinders that will tackle them. It is VERY pricey.
Yes, but the motor in a rotary converter is a 3 phase
motor, not a single phase motor. That?s the whole idea: connect the input to one of the
windings, and a run capacitor to the remaining terminal, then draw 3 phase power from all
three terminals.
Oh, I was thinking you implied the motor-generator route - a motor
with a mechanical linkage to an AC generator.
