Yes they are, HP always used the Amphenol connector
for their HP-IB cables.
Philips and Fluke used a DB25 (IRC) connecter for their implementation of
the HP-IB bus (IEEE-488).
I beelive that';s actuallyIEC625. Same signals but on a DB25.
How is it wired>? PERQ 2's (all flavours) also use a DB25 for the GPIB
inteface, but it';s wired in an insane way. Pin 25 is not used (I think
it is even blocked on the sockent and the plug pin is missing), all other
pins are wired to the pin with the same number on the Microribbon
connector. So you cann;'t use IDC plugs and a bit of ribbon cable to make
up an adapter.
Philips also made converters for DB to Amphenol.
I remembr seeing a 3rd party one in some catalog or other. It was
described as an 'RS232 to GPIB adapter' and said 'Does not convert
signals' So quite how it met tat description is beyond me.
