To do so, break the boot process after the 'Testing system' message
disappeared by pressing ALT-Comman-Tilde (~). You should get a monitor
prompt 'NeXT>'.
Now enter 'bsd -s' to boot in single user mode. If the system asks for
another *password*, a hardware *password* is set. If you don't know this
*password*, you are lost, until you remove the clock battary from the
motherboard to clear the boot ROM.
Boot in single user (-s at boot time).
Then where you are at the shell prompt (#), enter "sh /etc/rc &" to start
NetInfo. And then "passwd root" to change root password.

How do I break into a NEXT machine where I know no

have to wipe the drives and start over again? Any help is appreciated.
