I don't remember ever dealing with Travan, though I think I have a couple
drives in the collection I've built at work.
One of the problems with *most* QIC and Travan is that it's write-a-
tape, then verify-a-tape. When you're dealing with "time is money"
or "we gotta get in, and get out as fast as possible", the need to do
a separate verify pass is a huge liability. 4mm/8mm/DLT are read-
after-write technologies. In theory, you can have a pretty scruffy
tape with them and still get the backup on the first try.
