I suggest if you want to, find someone who does SMD
rework that has
hot air rework station to pull the CPU off. That is preferred method
then clean out the holes, put in a top-quality 168 pin socket like
AMP and go!
I have a couple of old Toshiba T3400's that I'd like to do that to. You
