I see nothing
particularly wrong with that last requiremnt. It would
make the thing a lot easier to maintain.
His requirement was for 200 units. Ever try to find that many new through-hole mount floppy controller ICs with about an
equal number
kept in the parts crib for replacements?
Would a PLCC chip in a through-hole socket count? That might be a bit
easier to find.
