This is the same thing with Apple ][ models prior to the //c and //gs. If
a disk was not bootable or the disk drive was malfunctioning, it would
seek forever for something without displaying anything on the screen.
Radio Shack copied a lot of features from the Apple ][, and this was
probably one of them.
