Not if you get a card that has it's own BIOS. Most (all?) of those cards will have
jumpers to set the drive type. A fair number of cards were made like that. They were for
use where you wanted to a 2nd drive controller to a system or for use in the original PC
and PC/XT where there were no CMOS settings.
