2.88M drives were common with first generation
RS/6000s. I probably
still have craploads of drives and media stashed somewhere from the AOL
days (every dialup site had a little model 220 buried in the rack).
Pretty common on PS/2s as well AFAIK. However, I don't think the IBM drives could
easily be used in non-IBM systems...
