Hi --
Since this is the ccTALK list, and I can therefore post about
whatever I want (per Dave), Iwas wondering what kind of underwear
y'all prefer? Personally, I prefer tighty-whiteys, but I'm afraid
they might not be trendy enough.
Thanks, Jsoh
You're not helping the situation at all. Ironic shitposting is still
shitposting.
I find Josh's post more relevant than most that don't specifically address
computing, i.e. the OT category.
This list gets really messy ("watch where you step") at times, and this is
one of those times. "People suck++" as a subject? "Amusing
statistic"
introducing an attack on individuals? And to think we're the *smart*
kids....
There is one individual on this list whom I am always tempted to killfile
because of his stubbornly iconoclastic views, but then he posts something
technically brilliant and my tolerance knob notches up a few. I found
myself in a pissing match with another person over opinions on netiquette
and again considered the killfile, but then he offered an insighful
observation on another topic that inspired me to dial down my
f***-you-very-much knob a few divisions. And so it goes.
IMHO Josh's post that started this all (Next completely OT topic) was a
delightfully pithy observation of the current set of hot buttons on this
list. I read it as black humor (and nicely done). Maybe you read it as a
personal affront. Go figure out why. I'm sure you own a mirror, but
maybe your "Sent" directory will be more illuminating.
In my experience, people who engage in pursuits that would bring one to
this list are very intelligent, strong-willed, mostly anti-institutional
and as a result sometimes lacking in the best of diplomacy skills. While
many of these things can be strengths, not always: and I think that may
describe how we got to this juncture.
EVERYONE: go have a [beverage of choice] and chill out. I am. -- Ian
