Usually the C64's that did not have the "rainbow" badge were the ones
from the original production run in 1982-early '83.
These early models
used the VIC-20 case & were quickly pulled & replaced
with the case style
that we all know today.

Every C64 I played with as a kid looked like the one at the top of the
screen, with the rainbow logo. When did Commodore switch?
