I wouldn't call a scan or photocopy of a manual
"intellectual
property."
The law does, at least in most jurisdictions. (Well, strictly, a
manual, or a scan or photocopy thereof, *embodies* IP, rather than
*being* IP. But that's a distinction not very relevant to the
discussion at hand.)
