No big deal.
Mercury tilt switches are some of the most reliable devices ever made. I have
a sump pump with one used as a level switch. No problems at all, even after
33 years of service.
I wouldn't trust such an important job to anything BUT a mercury tilt switch.
Do precision relays still have mercury-wetted
contacts? Or have the RoHS
goons eliminated those too?
Mercury-wetted relays are obscenely expensive, but they are still around.
