I think he was speaking of the original Multisync monitor when he
mentioned EGA. 2D is definitely VGA-capable.
Not all 2Ds will work at 800x600, either. It's fairly hit-and-miss. I'd
say about 60% manage to sync up properly, with only about 30% of those
that sync will manage a decent picture afterward.
