The Compaticard I
and II use a NEC ?PD765A chip (the difference being 2- vs. 4-drive
support). Early versions of th CC IV used Intel 82077 controllers;
subsequent ones used pin-compatible NS PC8477 controllers. None used
a WD chip.
It should be reiterated that the 82077 is, for all practical purposes, a
765.
Using a WD1793, or variant thereof, would require a complete rewrite of
Int13h. AFAIK, nobody ever got around to doing that, so I kept a TRS80-3
around just for the WD REAL "track read" command.
