No, that would be a bad business decision. VMS is too far gone to make
any sort of comeback, especially with all the cheaper competitors (it
is hard to compete with free!). If anyone has any brains left at HP,
they should be milking VMS for as much as they can until 2020.
You do not kill a cash cow - even a tiny cash cow.
It would be nice if HP let VMS completely loose after 2020, however.
That was actually how I interpreted what Dave was saying. That
makes at least SOME business sense, as long as there aren't
parts of VMS which are required to be kept confidential in
perpetuity, which wouldn't totally surprise me (especially
given how popular it is for DoD).
