you could just as easily emulate a 1571?"
Sorry for my blockheadedness, but I'm still not clear on this.
Maybe because the 1541 is a simpler first step?
That's what I was going to say also. The 1571 is a considerably more complex
(being more versatile) unit. Emulating a 1541 is hard enough due to how
exploited its intelligent architecture was by software authors.
