I tried running MajorBBS under it, on Linux. DosBox would get slower
and slower and the whole thing would grind to halt after a while. I
suspected some sort of memory leak.
This was a big problem with that version of MajorBBS, as it uses
btrieve and if it dies it tends to corrupt it's databases.
I rebuilt the whole thing using a beta version of freedos with network
support, and it's been fine every since.

What kinds of problems? I'm surprised by the fact that DOSbox (officially,
apparently) is only for games, because DOS games play all kinds of evil tricks
with the hardware and you'd think once they work, pretty much everything would
work. Was it the COM ports?
